A Food Pantry distribution is hosted on the first Saturday of each month at Our Lady of Grace, and is now completed as a drive-thru, by the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Monthly items collected from the Food Pantry collection at Our Lady of Grace and other parishes are distributed along with food items provided by the Westmoreland County Food Bank.
HOW CAN I HELP?
The Food Pantry is always looking for volunteers to assist in distributing the food, assist clients in carrying the food to their vehicles, and various other tasks. A person can volunteer once or many times. Volunteers serve at one of the two shifts on those mornings.
The inside shift is from 7:45 a.m.-9:00 a.m. Volunteers pack dry goods items into the boxes that will be handed out to the recipients. Volunteers for this activity must be at least 14 years of age.
The outside shift is from 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Volunteers load the recipients' cars with the packed boxes and other items added from the cold food area. Due to safety issues, all volunteers for the outside shift must be at least 18 years of age.
All are welcome to help, parishioners and non-parishioners.
TO VOLUNTEER:
We ask that all volunteers give us a two-week notice of availability before the distribution date to be added to a volunteer team. For more information, or to offer to volunteer, please email svdpfp.olg@gmail.com.
