Monthly Food Pantry Distribution

A drive-thru Food Pantry distribution is hosted by the St. Vincent de Paul Society on the first Saturday of each month at Our Lady of Grace.  On Friday, boxes are packed with food from the Westmoreland County Food Bank, Turner's Dairy, Giant Eagle, Panera Bread, local parishes & churches, and the monthly food item collected from the Food Pantry collection at Our Lady of Grace.
On Saturday, these boxes are distributed to those persons or families registered with the food pantry.

HOW CAN I HELP?

The Food Pantry is always looking for volunteers to assist on Fridays to prepare and pack the boxes and set up for Saturday's distribution. On Saturdays, assistance is needed to distribute the food, to carry the food to the clients' vehicles, and to perform various other tasks. A person can volunteer once or many times. Volunteers serve at one of the two shifts on distribution mornings.

The inside shift is from 7:45 a.m.-9:00 a.m. Volunteers pack dry goods items into the boxes that will be handed out to the recipients. Volunteers for this activity must be at least 14 years of age.

The outside shift is from 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Volunteers load the recipients' cars with the packed boxes and other items added from the cold food area. Due to safety issues, all volunteers for the outside shift must be at least 18 years of age.

All are welcome to help, parishioners and non-parishioners.

TO VOLUNTEER:

We ask that all volunteers give us a two-week notice of availability before the distribution date to be added to a volunteer team.
