Have you been a member of Our Lady of Grace …
for a long time ... or for a short time?
Do you have …
a special memory … or a story of historical significance to share?
If so, we are inviting you …
… to help create an oral history of the parish.
What is an Oral History?
An “oral history” is a systematic collection of living people’s testimony about their own experiences. In this case, testimony associated with Our Lady of Grace Church. The testimony might be about your involvement in the various Our Lady of Grace ministries; recollections about a pastor or parochial vicar; or details of social events, traditions, the buildings, etc.
Oral history is not gossip, hearsay, rumor, or folklore.
How is the history recorded?
This oral history will be documented on DVD so that the experiences can be archived and shared with others. After all of the interviews are completed, a DVD of your entire interview will be provided to you. Some excerpts of your interview may (or may not) be used in a final oral history DVD that will be made available to all of the Our Lady of Grace Parish community.
How can you get involved?
1. Pick up an oral history packet from the book shelf in the gathering area or print the information from the Web site.
2. Complete the pre-interview questionnaire and the video release form, and return them to the parish office. You may also mail the appropriate forms or place them in collection basket.
3. You will be contacted to schedule an interview.
If you have any questions, please contact the chairperson, Paul DeFloria, of the Oral History Committee at 724-640-1486.
