VISION AND MISSION
The youth ministry of Our Lady of Grace Parish, guided by the vision for youth ministry of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, focuses on the holistic development of young people by which they are empowered to live as disciples of Jesus and are drawn into active participation into the mission of the parish, diocesan, and universal church community. We live by the motto “All are welcome.” Through the youth ministry, young people are called to hear God’s Word, to nurture a relationship with the Triune God through prayer, to serve the disenfranchised of the parish, local, and global community, and to help bring about the reign of God.
VALUES OF OUR LADY OF GRACE YOUTH MINISTRY
All are Welcome ~ We are all children of God our Creator. Therefore, the youth ministry at Our Lady of Grace does not exclude anyone.
The Young are Vulnerable ~ We recognize that young people are vulnerable and easily influenced. The youth ministry will protect all young people and follow proper reporting procedures if harm is done.
All children and youth workers and/or volunteers at Our Lady of Grace Church are required to undergo a criminal and child abuse history background check and strictly adhere to all state and Diocesan Child Protection Policies.
Say not You are too Young ~ Everyone, regardless of age, has a vocation to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Each person offers a unique gift of self to help bring about the reign of God.
Nourished by the Eucharist ~ The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith and we recognize the need to be nourished by the Bread of Life. Therefore, the youth ministry participates in the communal celebration of the Eucharist.
Service to Others ~ As a parish committed to the service of others, the youth ministry strives to serve those in our parish and local community.
More than Catechesis ~ The youth ministry recognizes that catechesis is not the only aspect of faith development. Therefore the youth ministry is built upon the eight components of Renewing the Vision: catechesis, prayer & worship, pastoral care, advocacy, evangelization, community life, justice & service, and leadership development.
“Journey of a Lifetime” ~ We recognize the words of Bishop Bosco in affirming that one’s faith is not a one-time change. Rather, we affirm that faith is a lifelong journey and respect each person’s point on their individual journey to God.
